Room boxes are a great way to display things that you love on a very small scale. This miniature potting shed was inspired by my sister Michelle who loves all things Herb. Like mint that grows under any condition, she is the most resilient person I know. My love of miniatures started with my friend Kathryn and was later cultivated by my friend Betty.

This box is 1:12 scale and measures 8” W x 10 ¼” H x 4 ½” D. It’s created inside a wooden box with a hinged framed glass door. Miniature books, bottles, clay pots, plants, tools, posters, and flowers adorn the walls, flooring and table.
The potting table is handmade out of balsa wood, most of the herbs in the jars are authentic and some of the books are covered with actual book titles. The “large” plant pot is hand painted. Beads were used to make flower vases. Artificial mini-plants are used in terra cotta pots and packed in with real dirt. White-washed wall paneling and small grouted bricks enhance the rustic vibe. There is a battery operated LED light on the ceiling to cast a warm glow over the intimate scene. Do you know someone who loves all things Herb?
