My dear neighbor has chickens that are simultaneously pets and egg laying employees. I enthused about the eggs’ varieties of colors and speckles. The next week Rosemary presented me with eggs that she had blown out, just so I could keep them and paint them. Such thoughtfulness! I thought to try and juxtapose their subtlety against a tabletop of bright orange, and see what happened in those shadowy areas.
